I had left my two-year-old baby with my 17-year-old son while I was at work. A few hours later, the police called me: “Come home immediately! You need to see what your son has done!” 😱

Since my husband’s death, I had been raising Logan and Andrew alone. I worked long hours at the hospital to provide for them.

Logan had already had a few problems with the police. Still, he had promised me he would become more responsible. That morning, I had entrusted him with his little brother before leaving for work.

Around noon, my phone rang.

— Ma’am, we’re at your house. Come back immediately.

— Are my children hurt?

— Come home, and we’ll explain everything.

I rushed out of work in a panic.

When I arrived, I saw a police officer standing in front of our house. He was holding Andrew in his arms.

— Where is Logan? What has he done?

— Your son is inside, ma’am. But it’s not what you’re imagining.

I ran inside. Logan was sitting on the sofa, visibly shaken.

The police officer handed me his phone.

— Watch this recording. You’ll understand why we called you.

When the video started playing, my legs began to tremble…😮😮😮

I had left my two-year-old baby with my 17-year-old son while I was at work. A few hours later, the police called me: “Come home immediately! You need to see what your son has done!”

On the screen, I recognized our living room. The video came from the camera installed near the front door. Andrew was playing peacefully while Logan prepared his lunch in the kitchen.

Suddenly, my little boy brought his hands to his throat. He had swallowed a piece of food and couldn’t breathe.

I let out a scream.

In the video, Logan rushed toward him. He immediately understood what was happening and began performing the first-aid techniques he had learned at school.

A few seconds later, Andrew spat out the piece of food stuck in his throat.

But my son didn’t stop there. He called emergency services and then stayed beside his brother until the police and paramedics arrived.

I turned toward Logan, my eyes filled with tears.

— My sweetheart… you saved his life!

He lowered his head.

— I was so scared, Mom. I thought I was going to lose him.

The police officer then spoke.

— Ma’am, your son reacted quickly. The emergency responders examined Andrew. He’s fine, but we wanted you to know what had happened.

Then he added:

— I’ve known Logan since his first acts of mischief. Today, I discovered a brave and responsible young man.

I walked over to my son and wrapped my arms around him.

— I’m so proud of you.

Logan began to cry.

— Do you think Dad would have been proud of me too?

That question broke my heart.

— I’m absolutely certain he would have been, my love.

That evening, the three of us had dinner together, sitting close around our little table.

For months, I had been afraid that Logan would get into trouble again. But that day, he had saved his little brother. And I finally understood just how much he had grown up.
