I stood frozen for a moment, trying to understand what he had just said. The soldier continued, explaining that one of his companions, injured in service, had been transported to the hospital during my shift. Their friend had sustained serious injuries, but thanks to my quick and effective care, he had been stabilized before it was too late.
I was overwhelmed by a multitude of emotions. Surprise, gratitude, but also immense relief. I had always known that every life was precious, but knowing that my actions had truly made a difference in the fate of a man deeply touched me.
The other members of the group, all in military uniform, silently nodded, showing smiles of gratitude.
