My husband cheated on me after thirty-one years of marriage. But the worst part was that his mistress was the wife of our own son! When I discovered their secret, I called my son and arranged to meet him at my father’s grave. That evening, we made a decision they never would have imagined… 😱
My name is Caroline, I’m 56 years old, and I thought I knew my husband, Marc, better than anyone else.
Three months earlier, our son Thomas had married Laura. I still remember his smile during the wedding ceremony.
But shortly after the wedding, Marc changed. He came home late, hid his phone, and sometimes smelled of an unfamiliar perfume. One Thursday, a message appeared on our family tablet:
“Tonight, 8 p.m. Same hotel. Thomas is working the night shift.”
The message came from someone named “L.” I immediately thought of Laura, but I refused to believe it. That evening, I followed Marc in my car.
At 8:07 p.m., Laura arrived outside a hotel. A few minutes later, I saw my husband waiting for her at the entrance.
He kissed her before wrapping his arm around her waist. I filmed everything. My hands were shaking so badly that I had to wait a moment before calling Thomas.
— Mom? Is everything okay?
— Meet me at the cemetery, by your grandfather’s grave.
— Why? You’re scaring me!
— There’s something I need to show you.
Twenty minutes later, Thomas arrived. I handed him my phone. He watched the video without saying a word. Then he looked up at me.
— Mom… Do you know what they’re planning for tomorrow?
I shook my head. His answer made my blood run cold… 😨

— Tomorrow, Dad and Laura have an appointment with a notary, Thomas whispered. She told me she had to accompany Marc for a family matter.
I felt my heart tighten.
— How do you know?
— I saw the appointment on her calendar. She asked me not to ask any questions.
We decided to find out what they were planning.
The next morning, Thomas called the notary’s office. He learned that the appointment concerned the sale of an apartment owned by Marc.
We had bought that apartment together with our savings. I immediately contacted a lawyer. She explained that Marc couldn’t freely dispose of our jointly owned property.
We arrived at the notary’s office before they did. When Marc and Laura walked in, they stopped dead in their tracks.
— Caroline? Thomas? Marc stammered.
I placed the photographs taken outside the hotel on the table.
— So, you were planning to run away together with the money from selling our apartment?
Laura burst into tears. Marc denied nothing. The appointment was halted. My lawyer began the necessary legal proceedings to protect my rights.
Thomas left Laura that very day. I filed for divorce. Six months later, my son and I moved into two neighboring apartments.
We had lost our trust in two people. But we had regained our freedom.
