After my divorce, I found myself pregnant and completely alone. Julian, my ex-husband, had decided that I was no longer his problem. Three months before my delivery, he placed the divorce papers in front of me without the slightest emotion.
His mother, Eleanor, even accused me of getting pregnant just to take advantage of their money. A few days later, Julian blocked our joint bank account, canceled my health insurance, and told everyone around us that I had cheated on him.
I had no one left to rely on.
To survive, I accepted every job I could find. I cleaned offices at night, corrected legal transcripts in the morning, and worked at a hotel during the day. Despite my pregnancy, I had to keep going.
But Julian didn’t know one thing: before our marriage, I had worked as an auditor for a large law firm. So I knew how to recognize financial irregularities. Before he cut off all my access, I had secretly copied bank statements, invoices from shell companies, and compromising emails exchanged between him and his mother.
Then the day of my delivery arrived.
The contractions were already strong when I drove to the hospital alone. A few hours later, my son was born.
I was exhausted but happy when I noticed the doctor’s strange behavior. When he looked at my baby, he suddenly turned pale. His eyes filled with tears.
— This can’t be possible, he whispered.
My heart started racing.
— What’s wrong?
He looked at me before asking:
— Who is the father?
At that moment, the door opened and a man walked into the room with a smile on his face…
And what happened next was simply unbelievable.😮😮

Julian approached the crib and looked at our son. But instead of smiling, he suddenly froze.
The doctor immediately stepped between him and the baby.
— Don’t touch him.
Julian frowned.
— What are you talking about?
The doctor took a deep breath before looking at me.
— Ma’am, I compared the results of the tests performed during your pregnancy with those of your baby. There is something you need to know.
My heart began beating even faster.
— What?
He hesitated for a few seconds.
— Your son has an extremely rare genetic characteristic. And we have already seen exactly the same profile in a medical file that has been kept here for several years.
Julian suddenly went pale.
— That file has nothing to do with her, he murmured.
I looked at him in shock.
— How do you know what’s in it?

He didn’t answer.
The doctor then placed a folder on my bed.
— Because your husband was here three weeks ago. He asked us to change certain information regarding your pregnancy.
I felt my legs trembling.
I opened the folder and found several documents bearing Julian’s signature.
But the last document left me completely stunned.
It was a contract in which Julian had accepted a huge sum of money in exchange for one thing: making me believe that this child was not mine.
