At seven months pregnant, I had almost stopped getting out of bed. My father, Paul, initially thought I was simply exhausted. I was living with my husband, Marc, and his mother, Anne. Every morning, Dad called me before going to work.
I always told him I was fine. But I was lying.
Little by little, I stopped smiling, and then I began replying only with short messages. Marc always had an excuse.
“She’s tired. Pregnancy is making her more sensitive.”
Anne, on the other hand, kept telling me that I was too demanding and should be grateful that they were taking care of me.
One afternoon, Dad arrived without warning. Marc immediately turned pale. 😮
“Colonel… you should have called first.”
Dad walked in anyway. He found me lying under a blanket, unable to look him in the eyes. He took my hand.
“Tell me what’s going on.”
“Nothing, Dad.”
“Don’t lie to me.”
I started crying.
“Please… don’t ask any questions.”
Anne appeared behind him, and Dad turned toward her.
“Leave this room.”
Marc stepped closer to the bed.
“Don’t touch the blanket.”
Dad stared at him for a few seconds, then lifted the blanket. Dark marks covered my arms, legs, and ribs. A clearly visible mark near my stomach confirmed what I had never dared to tell anyone. Marc turned pale.
“I can explain.”
Dad replied in an icy voice:
“No.”
At that moment, something happened that left them both frozen in place. My father gave them a shock they would never forget. 😮

At that moment, footsteps echoed in the hallway. Dad had already called for backup. For the first time, Marc and Anne realized that their lies were about to be exposed.
But they still didn’t know that a document secretly signed by them would reveal something far more horrifying: they didn’t just want to control me… they also wanted to keep my baby.
The footsteps stopped outside the door. Two men entered behind my father. Marc stepped back, while Anne stood frozen.
“What are you doing here?”
My father said nothing. He simply handed an envelope to one of the men.
“Check this signature.”
The man examined the document before looking up at me.
“Ma’am, this signature is supposed to be yours. But it doesn’t match the signature on your official documents.”
I felt my heart begin to race. My father looked at Marc.
“You really thought you could make her sign away her parental rights without her knowing?”
Marc went pale.
“It wasn’t me…”
Anne began to cry.
“We only wanted to protect the child.”
“By separating him from his mother?” my father replied coldly.
That was when I understood what they had planned. They had prepared a file to obtain custody of my baby immediately after his birth. That day, all their lies came crashing down. And thanks to my father, my child and I were finally free.
