“Your numbers are wrong…” whispered the poor boy, wearing worn clothes, to the billionaire during a contract meeting. 😱
The billionaire burst out in a dry laugh, but a shiver of unease ran through him. “Numbers never lie.”
Lucas Cross straightened his impeccable tie and returned his gaze to the whiteboard. After a week of rehearsals, he felt ready to close the most important deal of his career, perched on the 23rd floor of a downtown tower.
“With this project,” he announced, pointing to the last figure, “we are planning an investment of fifty million dollars for a seventeen percent return.”
His assistants nodded, smiles controlled. Across from them, three Japanese investors watched silently, attentive. The eldest, Takashi Kuroda, spun a pen between his fingers, impassive.
It was the decisive moment. Rivers Development, born from a small empty office, was about to reach a historic milestone.
Then a voice pierced the silence. “Your calculations are incorrect.” 😱
The breath in the room froze. In the doorway appeared a boy of about thirteen. His sneakers were worn, a tattered backpack hung over one shoulder, and he held a crumpled notebook in his hands.
“Who are you?” asked Lucas, trying to maintain composure.
“My name is Leo Rivera,” the boy explained without trembling. “I am the son of the woman who cleans this floor. And your numbers… they are going to cost you dearly.”
A nervous laugh escaped Lucas. “This is neither the time nor the place for that.”
But Leo continued: “You multiplied 127,000 by 394 and got 50,038,000. The correct number is 50,138,000. A hundred thousand dollar difference.”
“And you forgot the 2.3% administrative fees mentioned in your last printout.”
A freezing chill fell over Lucas. 😱 “Let’s check,” he said, typing on the computer, face pale. After a few seconds, he murmured, “A simple input error.”
Leo tilted his head. “Do you want me to show you the other five mistakes as well?” 😱
No one laughed, and what happened next shocked the world.

The silence thickened. No murmurs, no movement. Even Lucas’s assistants seemed frozen, unable to react. Takashi Kuroda set down his pen, eyes narrowed, observing Leo with almost military focus.
“Show us,” Lucas finally said, voice trembling.
Leo opened his notebook, revealing columns and calculations that no one had noticed. Line by line, he pointed out errors, omissions, and inconsistencies. Each correction increased the tension in the room. A single misplaced number, a forgotten percentage, and the whole project could wobble.
The Japanese investors exchanged quick glances. The silence hung like a guillotine. Lucas felt sweat running down his back. Twenty years of certainties and carefully made decisions crumbled before his eyes, exposed by a thirteen-year-old boy.
In the end, Leo calmly closed his notebook. “There. Everything is correct now.”
Lucas took a deep breath, throat tight. He realized that this young boy had just saved his company from a financial disaster that could have reached millions.
Takashi Kuroda slowly nodded, approving. “You have talent, young man.”
After that day, Leo’s life changed.
