Her voice was soft, but it carried an underlying tension, as if she were trying to calm an invisible fear. She said:
“There is nothing to fear, but you need to be ready to act quickly. You must make a decision, and fast.”
My heart began to race. The woman’s voice had a calm authority, but something in her words froze my blood. “You must make a decision”… this phrase echoed in my head, leaving a bitter taste.
I wanted to intervene, ask my daughter to put the phone down, but I remained frozen.
I stood still. “What to reveal?” I thought, a wave of doubt crossing my mind. My husband… there was something he was hiding from me, and this woman seemed to know far more than I did.
Who was she? And why did this conversation seem so urgent, almost secret?
