During a flight, a man behind me hung his dirty socks over my seat, right next to my head. When he woke up, he started screaming… 😱
We had been on the plane for three hours when a horrible smell started bothering me.
I looked up and discovered two damp socks, almost black with dirt, hanging behind my headrest.
— Sir, could you please take those down?
He shrugged.
— They need to dry. Just lean forward!
A flight attendant intervened and asked him to remove them.
But ten minutes later, the socks were back, even closer to my face.
— You’re doing this on purpose! I protested.
He smiled before closing his eyes.
A few minutes later, he was snoring peacefully. I was furious, but I didn’t want to cause a scene.
Then the flight attendant handed out the snacks. As I looked at my tray, an idea came to me. I waited until my seatmate was fast asleep, then discreetly did something to his socks.
A teenage girl saw me and stifled a laugh. Twenty minutes later, the man put them on. Suddenly, he jumped out of his seat.
— WHO DID THIS?!
And what he did next completely shocked everyone present.😮😮

The man pulled off his socks with a scream.
— What the hell is this?!
His feet were covered in a sticky, sweet substance. Every time he moved, his toes stuck to the fabric.
I had simply poured some honey, which I had received with my tea, inside his socks while he was sleeping.
The teenage girl sitting across from me could barely hold back her laughter.
— Who did this?! the man repeated.
I calmly turned around.
— Is there a problem, sir?
— Someone put something in my socks!
— It’s unpleasant, isn’t it, when someone touches your belongings?
He glared at me angrily.
— It was you!
Before I could respond, the flight attendant arrived.
— Sir, please sit down. You’re disturbing the other passengers.
He began to protest, but the woman on the other side of the aisle intervened.
— Your colleague had already asked you to remove those socks. You deliberately hung them back up near this lady.
The man turned red.
— That didn’t give her the right to ruin them!
The flight attendant turned to me.
— Ma’am, did you put something inside them?
I admitted what I had done.
— Yes. I was completely fed up. I shouldn’t have done that.
She reminded me that touching another passenger’s belongings was prohibited. Then she asked the man to put his socks away in his bag.
He refused to look at me for the rest of the flight. After we landed, the teenage girl smiled at me.
— Honestly, that was hilarious!
Her mother added:
— Maybe, but next time, just call the crew.
She was right. I had achieved the peace and quiet I wanted, but I could have handled the situation differently.
One thing was certain: during the last two hours of the flight, not a single sock came anywhere near my head again!
