I’m a police officer, on duty, a daily routine that I know well. As always, my dog Max, a German Shepherd with an impeccable sense of smell, accompanied me on my rounds. He was loyal, calm, ready to act at the slightest sign of danger. That 4 PM, everything seemed peaceful, just like any other day.
But suddenly, without any apparent reason, Max started acting strangely. First, he stopped dead in his tracks, his ears standing up, scanning the surroundings with an unusual intensity.
Then, he started spinning around, sniffing the air as if he was searching for something specific. His eyes gleamed with a particular light. I followed him, intrigued by his behavior. Max, usually so calm, seemed to have picked up on something important.
I saw him approach a woman with a stroller. She was walking slowly, unaware of what was happening. Max didn’t hesitate for a second, heading straight towards her, sniffing the air insistently. Then, he started howling, barking louder and louder. 😯
It wasn’t an ordinary bark, but a cry, as if he was trying to warn of something. The woman, shocked by his reaction, stopped, casting a worried glance toward me.
I approached the stroller, trying to understand what was making my dog so upset. As I approached, Max continued to bark, forcing me to check what was happening. I leaned over and gently lifted the stroller’s cover, expecting to see a sleeping baby or some ordinary scene.
Inside the stroller, there wasn’t a baby, not even a child. 😯 What I discovered chilled me to the bone. 😯
