My 15-year-old daughter had been complaining of stomach pain for weeks. My husband refused to take her to the doctor, insisting that she was pretending. But when the doctor looked at her ultrasound, his face changed… 😨
My daughter Maya was only fifteen when she began complaining of stomach pain. At first, I thought it was just a minor digestive problem. But the days passed, and her condition kept getting worse.
She was constantly nauseous, eating less and less, and coming home from school completely exhausted. My daughter, who had once been so cheerful and full of energy, no longer even wanted to go out with her friends.
Every time I suggested taking her to the hospital, my husband Robert became angry.
— Stop being so dramatic! She’s pretending to get attention. We’re not going to waste our money on unnecessary tests!
But I could clearly see that Maya was genuinely suffering.
One evening during dinner, she pushed her plate away and began to cry silently. Robert didn’t even look up from his phone.
Then, one night around two in the morning, I heard a faint moan coming from her room.
I found her curled up on her bed, both hands pressed tightly against her stomach. Her face was pale, and her cheeks were covered in tears.
— Mom… please… do something… I can’t take it anymore…😮
At that moment, I realized I couldn’t wait any longer. The next day, while Robert was at work, I picked Maya up from school and drove her straight to the hospital.
The doctor ordered blood tests and an abdominal ultrasound.
During the examination, I noticed the technician looking at the screen with growing concern. She took several images, then left to get a doctor.
A few minutes later, Dr. Lawson entered. He studied the images for a long time before turning to me.
— Ma’am, we’ve discovered something abnormal in your daughter’s abdomen.
I felt my legs trembling.
— What is it, Doctor? Is it serious?
He looked at Maya, then at the results of her tests.
— Before I explain, we need to check something very important…😮
And when he asked me his next question, I felt as if my heart had stopped.😮😮

— Has Maya ever had surgery? the doctor asked.
— No, never. Why?
He showed us the screen.
— Your daughter has a huge cyst on her right ovary. We’re afraid it has caused a torsion. She needs surgery immediately.
I was in shock. For weeks, Robert had accused our daughter of lying, while she had actually been suffering.
The operation lasted two hours. When the surgeon came back, his expression chilled me.
— We removed the cyst, but unfortunately, the ovary was too damaged to be saved.
I burst into tears.
— Will she be able to live a normal life?
— Yes. Her other ovary is healthy. But an earlier examination might have prevented this complication.
At that moment, Robert arrived at the hospital. When he learned the truth, he remained silent. When Maya woke up, she quietly asked him:
— Dad, do you believe me now?
He lowered his eyes, unable to answer.
A few days later, I asked Robert to temporarily leave our home. His apologies were not enough to erase what he had done.
Today, Maya is slowly recovering.
And I learned one lesson: when a child says they are in pain, you have to listen before it’s too late.
