“If I sing well, will you give me something to eat tonight?” an elderly woman asked as she stepped onto the stage of a famous talent show. At first, the judges thought it was a joke. But just a few minutes later, the entire audience was in tears… 😢
That evening, hundreds of spectators were waiting for the next contestant.
Suddenly, an elderly woman appeared on stage. She was wearing a worn-out coat and battered shoes, and she was holding an old guitar repaired with adhesive tape.
She walked slowly, her hands trembling.
— Good evening, ma’am. What’s your name? one of the judges asked.
— My name is Rose. I’m 78 years old.
— And why have you come to take part in our show?
The elderly woman lowered her eyes.
— Because I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday morning.
Silence fell over the room.
— Do you want to win the competition? another judge asked.
Rose shook her head.
— No, my dear. I would just like a hot meal. I was told that people here listen to singers.
Some spectators wiped away their tears. The host offered her a chair, but Rose refused.
— I can still stand for one song.
She held her guitar close to her chest and began to play. At first, her voice was fragile, but then it became surprisingly powerful.
Nobody spoke. When the final note faded away, the judges stood up. But Rose wasn’t smiling. She was simply looking toward the backstage area, as if she were waiting for someone.
Then one of the judges asked her a question.
— Rose, who does this guitar really belong to?
The elderly woman began to cry.
— My son… The son I’ve been searching for for twenty-seven years.
And when she explained why she had come to the show, nobody could hold back their tears… 😱

— My son’s name is Daniel, Rose explained. He was twenty years old when he left after a terrible argument with his father.

Rose had spent years searching for him. Then her husband died, she lost her home, and she found herself alone.
— I saw your show in the window of a shop. I thought Daniel might hear me singing.
One of the judges stood up, her eyes filled with tears.

The video of her performance spread everywhere. Three days later, the production team received a phone call.
A 47-year-old man had recognized the song and the guitar.
It was Daniel. When he entered the room where Rose was waiting for him, she began to tremble.
— Mom?
She burst into tears.
— My boy…
They held each other in a long embrace, neither wanting to let go. Daniel had no idea that his mother had lost everything. He welcomed her into his home. Rose didn’t win a single trophy.
But she found her son again, gained a home, and had someone with whom she could share her meals.
