My ex refused to help our newborn daughter, saying she was “my problem” — but his mother’s reaction left him speechless 😮😮
Six weeks before my daughter was born, my husband Eric packed his bags, emptied our joint account, and left me for another woman.
He said he wanted to be happy. When I asked him how I was supposed to manage after my maternity leave ended, he simply replied:
— You wanted this baby, so figure it out yourself.
At 34 weeks pregnant, the stress caused serious complications. I had to undergo an emergency C-section. My daughter Chloe was born prematurely and spent several days in the neonatal unit.
After she was discharged, she still needed medication and breathing treatments. I sold my jewelry and cut every possible expense. But one day, at the pharmacy, I no longer had enough money.
Desperate, I called Eric.
— Chloe needs her treatment. You took our savings. I need your help.
He sighed.
— She’s your responsibility. It’s your problem.
— Eric, she’s your daughter too!
— Find someone else.
He hung up.
I then went to his house with Chloe. His new partner, Tessa, opened the door. Eric refused even to look at his daughter.
— I have a new life now. Leave with your child.😮
The door closed in front of me.
That evening, I called Barbara, Eric’s mother, and told her the whole truth. She remained silent for a moment before saying:
— He told me that you were the one who left him.
Then her voice became cold.
— I’m coming.
An hour later, she was at my house, with groceries and her arms full of things for Chloe. Before leaving, she looked at me.
— I spent thirty-four years making my son’s life too easy. Tomorrow, we’re going to deal with this.
The next morning, we went to Eric’s house and prepared something in front of it. When he came outside, he saw our surprise.
— My God! Who did this?!
What we had prepared for him completely shocked him.

In front of his house, Barbara had a large table set up with boxes filled with bills, bank statements, and documents concerning Chloe. But that wasn’t all.
In the middle of the table was an envelope bearing his name.
Eric approached, completely confused.
— What is this?
Barbara calmly replied:
— The truth. The whole truth you hid from your family.
She explained that she had learned he had emptied our joint account before leaving and that he was now refusing to contribute to the medical expenses of his own daughter.
Then she handed him the documents.
— I also contacted a lawyer. From today on, you will have to take responsibility as a father.
Eric went pale.
— Mom, you can’t do this…
— Yes, I can. And I’ll see it through to the end.
Tessa, who had come outside behind him, silently looked at the documents. It seemed that, for the first time, she was discovering what kind of man Eric really was.
Barbara then placed one final envelope on the table.
— And this contains all the evidence of what you did. You wanted a new life? Fine. But you can’t abandon your child and pretend that nothing happened.
Eric could no longer find a single word to say.
