The soldier’s voice cracked like thunder across the campus courtyard, freezing every movement. The captain of the sports team, his hand still raised near the shoulder of a crying blonde girl, froze in shock. Around them, students watched silently, too scared to intervene.

The man in the olive-green uniform had no business being there. He had only come to drop off his daughter after her leave. But seeing the young woman trembling in front of an arrogant student in a university jacket, an ancient instinct awoke within him — that of a protector.

A few hours later, the soldier thought the incident was already behind him. He had silently escorted his daughter, still shaken by the scene. But the next morning, a black sedan pulled up outside his home. Two men in suits got out.

The soldier furrowed his brow. That name sounded vaguely familiar. It wasn’t until he entered the vast glass-and-steel hall of Easton Dynamics’ headquarters that he realized. An elegant woman with a piercing gaze stepped forward. Beside her stood the young woman he had defended, calmer now, but visibly moved.
— My daughter told me about you, — Caroline said in a calm voice. — Yesterday, you saved her far more than her dignity.
Turner remained silent. The CEO gave a slight smile.
— We need men like you. Not just in the army, but here, securing our projects. Would you be willing to join Easton Dynamics?
He glanced at the young woman, who gave him a shy smile. For the first time in a long time, the soldier felt that perhaps fate was knocking at his door.
